Dr. Lanae St.John – The MamaSutra

Hi there! I’m Dr. Lanae St.John, but you might know me as The MamaSutra. I’m a board-certified sexologist with the American College of Sexologists and a former professor of human sexuality at City College of San Francisco. I’ve dedicated my career to helping people achieve a healthier and more fulfilling sex life.

I hold a Doctorate and a Master’s in Human Sexuality from the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality. I’m also a Diplomate of the American Board of Sexology, and a Certified Sex Coach. Additionally, I’m an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church, integrating a holistic and inclusive approach to my coaching.

My training includes learning the “Wheel of Consent” model with Dr. Betty Martin, gaining insights into masturbation, female sexual empowerment, and body positivity with Dr. Betty Dodson, and trained in the Somatica Method with Celeste & Danielle. I am also a trained professional cuddler and cuddle party facilitator, adding a unique touch to my practice.

I’m a proud member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT), the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality (SSSS), the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH), and the Women of Color Sexual Health Network (WoCSHN).

I live in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area with my partner and two daughters. Helping people get comfortable with their sexuality, understanding it, and being able to communicate about it is a serious passion for me. This is not just a hobby—it’s my life’s work.
