You want a real connection, but all you seem to find are dead-end conversations, mixed signals, or partners who can’t (or won’t) show up. You’re tired of second-guessing your worth, walking on eggshells, and wondering if lasting love just isn’t in the cards for you.

Maybe you’re stuck in patterns you promised yourself you’d never repeat. Maybe trauma, betrayal, or chronic pain has left you feeling guarded, numb, or disconnected, not just from others, but from yourself.

That’s where I come in.

I’m Julie Wall, Board Certified Sexologist, Certified Peer Support Specialist, Gottman Leader, and founder of Building Intimacy.

But more importantly? I’ve lived this.

I know what it’s like to feel invisible in your relationship. To carry emotional wounds that never had a safe place to land. To crave intimacy but fear what it might cost you.

I’ve walked the road of toxic relationships, emotional trauma, sexual assault survival, and chronic pain. I’ve done the deep work to reclaim my voice, my body, and my right to healthy love.

At Building Intimacy, I help women:

  • Break free from unhealthy cycles
  • Create emotional safety and trust
  • Improve communication (even when it’s messy)
  • Reignite connection, from the everyday to the bedroom

You won’t get surface-level advice here. This is trauma-informed, lived-experience-led, and sometimes, if you choose, equine-assisted healing that speaks to the part of you that’s been waiting to exhale.

Because the truth is, healing doesn’t require perfection. It requires courage. And connection. And a willingness to choose yourself, again and again.

If you’re ready to stop just surviving and start actually feeling seen, safe, and connected in your relationships (including the one with yourself), I’d be honored to walk with you.

    Q What is Sexology?

Sexology is the study of human sexual behavior and how people think and feel about it. A life coach is a type of wellness professional who helps people make progress in their lives in order to attain greater fulfillment, often focusing on health/fitness, personal and professional goals. Sex coaching is a beautiful blend of the two, providing a practical, goal oriented, sex positive approach. Sexology is the "what" and coaching is the "how."

Q How is sexoology different from therapy?

A therapist takes a very different approach than a sex coach. A sex therapist is trained to look back into the client/patient's past and figure out "why" their client is experiencing emotions or taking actions based on childhood experiences, family of origin, trauma, or sexual violence.

A sex coach works with the client on present issues and what the client wants in the future. Coaching is about "how" to move forward by setting goals and establishing an action plan to move toward their personal, sexual, and relationship goals.

While we do look at the past as a place where patterns may have developed, our area of focus is present and future as our clients explore their sexual selves. Our focus is education instead of counseling. We encourage our clients to reframe their view of "normal" to what is natural—an answer to this item.

Q Do I have to live in California, CA to book a session?

No. You can request an email session, book a call, or schedule a video session. Please see the "Book with Julie" section of the website.

Q What are some reasons to see a sexologist?

A Sexologist can help with things like:

    - Identifying behaviors and patterns in (dating or committed) relationships that are not serving you.
    - Difficulties setting boundaries in relationships.
    - Difficulty communicating in relationships.
    - Anxiety around flirting and dating. Your coach may go on a "practice date" with you. No nudity, sexual, or erotic energy is exchanged on these dates.
    - Help you gain clarity to reach your goals surrounding your sex life and/or your relationship.
    - Identify your beliefs or blockages around sex or body image.
    - Provide accurate and shame-free information about sexual health (i.e., things our bodies do)
    - Provide non-judgemental information about sexual practices
    - Help develop self-confidence in and out of the bedroom.
    - Help with sexual inconsistencies or changes.
    - Women's health issues
    - Men's health issues
    - Sexual trauma
    - Mismatched libido with partner
    - Painful intercourse
    - Anxiety surrounding sexual performance
    - Sexual health, intimacy product information

    Q Do you take insurance?

Unfortunately, I do not take insurance at this time.

Q What things can a sexologist not help with?

Physical domestic violence. If you are being physically abused, please text BEGIN to 88788, or call 800.799.7233

Q Do you watch me or my partner and I be intimate?

No. These are talk-only sessions. There is no nudity and no sexual or erotic exchange.

At the end of a session, some play or practice on your own or with your partner may be suggested, but it is only what is relevant to your session and what you feel comfortable doing.

Q What are intimacy product events like?

I arrive at your event with product on hand and present it in a fun, educational way. I recognize that not everyone has the same comfort level discussing these subjects, and I strive to create a safe and comfortable space for everyone.

There is no nudity, sexual, or erotic energy exchanged at these events. Demonstration products will be available to touch, smell, and taste. No products are applied to erogenous zones.

Q Can my partner attend an intimacy product event?

Yes! I do events for both women-only and couples. It is at the host's discretion to allow multiple sexes.

Q Can we buy intimacy products the night of the event?

Yes. I carry a large inventory of products to purchase at the event. If I do not have an item you want, it will be drop-shipped to you.

    Q Event No-No's

No children under 18 are allowed to be on the premises until after the demonstration portion of the event is completed. This is a State law. They may be there during the shopping portion but are not allowed time in the shopping area. If a child is on the premises, the Sexologist will leave the event, and the booking fee will not be refunded.

Q Are you a Pure Romance Consultant?

I was a Certified Sexual Health Educator for over 8 years with Pure Romance. Although we are an affiliate (i.e., you can purchase from our founder's Pure Romance website), we no longer have a consultant relationship with Pure Romance.

We have a new relationship with a vendor that has access to many of the same products sold by Pure Romance but that provides much more variety, inclusivity, and better prices!

Q Do you charge for Intimacy Product Events?

Yes. Booking fees start at $100 and vary depending on travel, dates and times.

You can earn back part of your booking fee based on the party sales..

I include a gift for the host at each event as a thank you for inviting me into your space. As sales increase at the event, so do the rewards for you and your friends!

Q What is a Peer Support Specialist

As a Peer Support Specialist, I offer compassionate, lived-experience support for mental health recovery, trauma healing, relationship building, emotional regulation, and navigating life transitions, helping you reconnect with your strengths, voice, and future.

I don't approach healing as a professional behind a desk. I walk with you as someone who's lived it, survived it, and found a way forward. You are not broken. You are becoming. And you don’t have to do it alone.
